Dr. Michael  Farino

Dr. Farino has been in practice at Scarborough Dental Associates (SDA) since 2001.  Prior to graduating with a DMD, he obtained a BS in Education from the University of Vermont and worked in the Vermont school system coordinating and instructing developmentally disabled children – Dr. Farino counts this experience as one of the most challenging but rewarding years in his career.   In further exploring his career options, he discovered his affinity for dentistry.   With a merit scholarship awarded to students for academic excellence in hand, he pursued his passion at Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine in 1995. Upon graduating in 1999, Dr. Farino completed a two-year long residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the University of Connecticut.  This intensive post-graduate training program, allowed him to focus on more complex implant cases and cosmetic dentistry - which informs his practice today.  During his time at the University of Connecticut, Dr. Farino also received the honor of being selected to present advanced topics in esthetic dentistry at Grand Rounds for dental residents, students, and faculty.

As a partner at Scarborough Dental Associates, Dr. Farino continues his focus on education by emphasizing patient education and preventative dentistry in his practice.  By listening to his patients’ questions and concerns, he is able to tailor treatment to meet individual needs.  Dr. Farino remains committed to ongoing dental education in order to bring the latest techniques and technologies to his patients.  He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Maine Dental Association, and the Greater Portland Dental Society.

Dr. Farino and his wife Stephanie have lived in Scarborough for the past 10 years, and have had the privilege to support many community based organizations and clubs.
